This map was created from a digital elevation model (DEM). The hillshade image produced from the DEM gives you an idea of the topography surrounding the Anacostia's mainstem. Because of the relatively low relief of the region, a vertical exaggeration of 2x has been applied to the hillshade in order to increase contrast.
